Fanboy Wrestletronic: AEW Full Gear 2021

Updated: Feb 20, 2022

After skipping WWE Blood Money Crown Jewel, we're back with AEW Full Gear 2021! Of course, while we were gone, WWE decided that after a successful Crown Jewel Blood Money show and a successful third quarter, they should release 18 wrestlers. What a way to celebrate!

Honestly, what already hasn't been said? Once again this sucks. Karrion Kross and Scarlett should have remained a package deal and only sent to Raw after Kross dropped the NXT Men's title. The way that they bungled his entire Raw debut is absolutely insane and even more proof that the writers of Raw/Smackdown (and most importantly Vince McMahon) do not pay attention at all to the NXT (1.0) product. Ember Moon should have been a much bigger deal on Raw or Smackdown after being NXT Women's Champion, and we should have gotten a continuation of her feud with Asuka where, or I don't know, maybe Moon could work her way to actually pinning and beating Asuka instead of winning the NXT title only after Asuka vacated the title before heading to Raw herself? She never should have been in the position to injure herself while chasing the fucking 24/7 title.

Franky Monet/Taya Valkyrie has only been on NXT for a few months and is entertaining as hell (though maybe we can see her in Milwaukee in a few weeks at Mondo Lucha now?). Oney Lorcan/Biff Busiek could have been a solid NXT Cruiserweight champion. Harry Smith/Davey Boy Smith Jr never even debuted on television, and he's a (at least?) second-generation wrestler! Mia Yim never was able to escape the black hole that was Retribution. Nia Jax is related to the Rock, though supposedly she was released for not being vaccinated, something I believe WWE hasn't actually mandated. Even though they should, obviously, and supposedly she's not the only one, just the only one to be named in the dirt sheets which is pretty bullshit and sexist.

And then: Keith Lee. What. The. Actual. Fuck. Keith Lee, and I'm not talking about "Bearcat" Keith Lee, I mean LIMITLESS KEITH LEE has WrestleMania main-event written all over him. He's beaten 14-time WWE Champion Randy Orton on pay-per-view. He earned the respect on-air of both Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. He was set up to main event EVERYTHING (as he should) until he got hit with a case of COVID that nearly killed him because WWE doesn't take everything seriously enough despite their top star, Roman Reigns, being immunocompromised. You would think that even for their most favorite toy, they'd be more careful? I digress. But Keith Lee is great in the ring. Lee is great on the mic. And most importantly: he is not only great, but genuine and believable on both. I don't want Keith Lee the character to main event anything. I want Keith Lee the human being to main event everything. He has whatever that special something is. He is a goddamn star. Fuck you, WWE.

Where do I want everyone to go? The two I'd like to see in AEW the most are Keith Lee and Ember Moon. I want Keith Lee on my TV and AEW is the most accessible outside of WWE, and I think Ember Moon would really bolster AEW's growing women's division. I'd also take Mia Yim and Davey Boy Smith Jr if possible due to their connections with Lee and Lance Archer, respectively. Outside of that, supposedly Kevin Owens and Kyle O'Reilly's contracts are up soon and they would fit in perfectly with AEW. Give me an Elite/Undisputed Era feud, you cowards! Fight for Adam Cole's soul!

Let's check in with the results from the latest round of the all-new all-different Quixotronic Wrestling Shame Challenge! Fun addition - Christian Cage as Impact World champion has caused me to actually watch Impact so I also made picks for Impact's Bound for Glory 2021 show! The rest of the Quixo-office didn't know what Impact was, but oh well.

AEW Full Gear 2021

Minneapolis Street Fight : America’s Top Team (Ethan Page, Scorpio Sky, Junior Dos Santos, Andrei Arlovski, & Dan Lambert) vs Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Ortiz, Sammy Guevara, & Santana)

The Background: The Inner Circle last worked as a major unit when they defeated the Pinnacle in a Stadium Stampede match at AEW Double Or Nothing 2021. After that, Chris Jericho broke off and dealt further with MJF and Ortiz & Santana had some more matches with FTR after Cash Wheeler injured his arm on the July 28th Dynamite in an FTR victory (though thankfully came back by the September 1st Dynamite for Ortiz/Santana to get their win back). Sammy Guervara defeated Miro to win the AEW TNT title on the September 29th Dynamite and is still the reigning champion. Jake Hager is still here. On the other side of things, MMA coach and former MLW and Team Filthy member Dan Lambert has joined AEW specifically to talk down on the sport of professional wrestling and has teamed with *checks notes* professional wrestlers Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page. According to Wikipedia, Sky at least has an MMA record of 2-1! As the weeks went on, more and more MMA fighters have joined Lambert's AEW-version of America's Top Team. Once done with MJF, Jericho set his sights on Lambert and ATT, calling them out. The two factions met at the September 24th Grand Slam Rampage and saw Scorpio Sky & Ethan Page defeat Chris Jericho & Jake Hager. They upped the players in a match and on the October 15th Rampage we saw America's Top Team again win with Page, Sky, and MMA fighter Junior Dos Santos defeating Jericho, Hager, and Guevara. Guervara did successfully defend his AEW TNT title against Page on the October 27th Dynamite, so now the full Inner Circle is out for revenge against 5 members of America's Top Team: Sky, Page, Dos Santos, Andrei Arlovski, and ATT coach Dan Lambert himself.

Fanboy Fantasy: Let’s make this elimination style to separate it more from the 6-man tag team street fight, and to stick it to WWE, I guess? It’s no DQ but all eliminations are in the ring. I think? Lambert spends the whole match hiding behind the other America’s Top Team members and sneaking in quick hits only to hide once the Inner Circle member starts to overpower him. Hager gets a mini-push by taking out both Arlovski with a chokehold and Dos Santos with pin after a double team attack with Guevara, dropping ATT down to just 3 members early. Page is able to take out Ortiz and Sky gets both Santana and Guevara to earn a future AEW TNT title shot. Lambert is able to sneak attack Hager with the ring bell and pin him, but during his celebration he dances right into a Judas Effect and an elimination leaving Jericho against Page and Sky. Jericho is able to take out Page with two Lionsaults, but Sky won’t stay down. The two go for a few extra minutes but Sky is able to hit a Fatal Answer and pin Jericho for the third time in AEW history. I think. Either way, the Men of the Year celebrate while Sky stares down the defeated Jericho.

Quixotronic Bullpen Predictions:

Kyle: Inner Circle - As much as I want to give Sky and Page the win, Inner Circle has a solid reputation for PPV wins and I don't think this will be any different.

Andy: TBD

Ryan: TBD

Tim: Inner Circle

CM Punk vs Eddie Kingston

The Background: CM Punk returned to wrestling on the August 20th Rampage and has been on a feel-good tour. He won his first match back at AEW All Out 2021 by defeating Darby Allin, and everyone loved it. Punk got into a scuffle with Team Taz because Taz doesn't like happy CM Punk, so Punk faced and defeated Powerhouse Hobbs at September 24th Grand Slam Rampage. Since then Punk has faced and defeated Daniel Garcia, Matt Sydal, and Bobby Fish. Eddie Kingston has spent his time hanging out with his buddy Jon Moxley and the two were both entered into the latest AEW World Title Eliminator tournament - both made it out of the first round (Kingston defeating Lance Archer on the October 23rd Dynamite and Moxley defeating Preston Vance on the October 27th Dynamite, but then Kingston was defeated by Bryan Danielson on October 29th Rampage and Moxley exited the tournament to enter rehab. Kingston, now out of the tournament and alone, took his frustration out on CM Punk, interrupting one of his interviews in the back. Punk was not pleased. On the November 5th Rampage, Punk called out Kingston, and well, honestly just watch because it's fucking great:

Fanboy Fantasy: While CM Punk comes out to Cult of Personality, Eddie Kingston bum rushes him before he can even get halfway down the aisle. Kingston throws Punk at/into the crowd since he likes to crowd so much. Once Kingston joins him, Punk is able to fight back and the two brawl through the crowd until Punk is able to toss Kingston back to the outside. Kingston throws Punk into the steps, Punk counters with a toss to the barrier. They brawl longer and both are bleeding before either one gets to the ring. Finally Punk is able to roll Kingston in, slides in himself, and yells at the ref to ring the damn bell. Before the bell can even ring, Kingston barrels into Punk and the two brawl even more. There’s the occasional wrestling move snuck in, but not many. Eventually Punk is able to hit a Go 2 Sleep but Kingston’s body rolls to the outside. Punk angrily slides to the outside and starts kicking Kingston in the gut, exclaiming that he can’t even lost a fight right. Punk tosses Kingston back inside the ring but he follows and slides right into a Sliding D and Backfist to the Future combination. Kingston lifts Punk up again and hits a real ugly Go 2 Sleep of his own and pins Punk 1, 2, 3. On the next Dynamite Kingston comes to the ring and simply asks: who’s the bitch now? On Rampage (which is Punk’s show, right?), Punk let’s everyone know that it turns out he’s not invincible. He let his feelings get the best of him, and he won’t do that again. He’s going to start using those feelings, and he’s going to point them at whomever gets in his damn way. He’s been beaten, and now he’s pissed.

Quixotronic Bullpen Predictions:

Kyle: CM Punk - Just using the mic before the show these two, and more-so Kingston, have hit it out of the park. But I don't think Kingston is going to give Punk his first AEW loss.

Andy: TBD

Ryan: TBD

Tim: CM Punk

Darby Allin vs MJF

The Background: Both Darby Allin and MJF took loses at AEW All Out 2021, with Allin losing to CM Punk in his return match after 7 years out, and MJF losing to Chris Jericho in one or two matches too many than the storyline actually needed. Since then, the two have set their sights on each other. It's mostly been a series of backstage attacks. Now they'll actually fight in the ring.

Fanboy Fantasy: Unlike the first two matches, Darby Allin and MJF end up having a standard wrestling match. MJF tries to keep Allin grounded but that damn enigma keeps getting up and flipping over things like a goth dead fish. Wardlow and Shawn Spears eventually make their way down to the ring but Sting stands solidly between them and the ring - he beats his chest (Stings up?) and Wardlow and Spears back down. Sometimes bad guys are smarter than you’d expect. This leave MJF and Allin uninterrupted for the rest of the match. After a ref bump, MJF clearly puts on his Dynamite Diamond ring and swings at Allin but misses and Allin is able to grab his arm and punch him in the head with his own fist/ring. Allin pulls the ring off, puts it in has back pocket, gets in the top rope and Coffin Drops onto MJF with the ring presumably sticking it to MJF through the pants. They both act like they’ve been hit with Dynamite (Diamond ring) but Allin rolls up MJF for the win. On the next Dynamite MJF complains that Wardlow and Spears were useless and FTR/Tully were nowhere to be seen (despite clearly getting ready for their own match). He calls out Andrade el Idolo, saying that it was in fact a bad deal they made and he throws the rest of Andrade’s money back at him - he wants FTR back. They are his. But Andrade just smiles. El Idolo isn’t finished with his business transaction. Not yet. All of this while Sting and Darby Allin wait in the rafters, observing the plans of those beneath them.

Quixotronic Bullpen Predictions:

Kyle: Darby Allin - both could use a big PPV win, but I think we'll be going with Allin.

Andy: TBD

Ryan: MJF

Tim: MJF

Christian Cage & Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus) vs The Elite (Adam Cole, Matt & Nick Jackson)

The Background: At AEW All Out 2021, Elite member and AEW World Champion Kenny Omega defeated Christian Cage in the main event and what followed blew up wrestling Twitter: Adam Cole, fresh off a four-year run in NXT, debuted and rejoined the Elite, attacking Cage and friends Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus, only for Bryan Danielson fresh off a eleven-year run with WWE to debut right behind him and attack Cole and the Elite. The two teams got into another scuffle on the September 8th Dynamite, and Adam Cole won his debut match the next week against Cage/Express ally Frankie Kazarian on the September 15th Dynamite. The SuperKliq defeated Christian and Jurassic Express on the September 24th Grand Slam Rampage, Cole defeated Jungle Boy a few days later on the September 29th Dynamite. And then the entire Elite (now including AEW World Champion Kenny Omega) defeated the three and Bryan Danielson on the October 6th Dynamite. But don't worry, Jungle Boy was able to defeat young boy Brandon Cutler on the October 23rd Dynamite. What I'm saying is : the Elite have won a lot. Will they again?

Fanboy Fantasy: The six attack each other right away, pairing up Christian with Cole and Jurassic Express with the Young Bucks. The Bucks and Express spill to the outside right away while Cole and Christian stay in the ring. While Cole and Cage have a weirdly normal wrestling match in the ring, the Bucks and Jurassic Express go everywhere: Jungle Boy and Nick Jackson chase each other up the entryway tubes, Luchasaurus and Matt Jackson go through the crowd, the Young Bucks chase Jungle Boy while driving a golf cart, the Young Bucks get scared when Luchasaurus reappears after reenacting the tyrannosaurus Rex appearance in Jurassic Park (have him attack and through Brandon Cutler in the lawyer role), have Luchasaurus perform a Fastball Special with Jungle Boy who then performs a Fastball Special with Marko Stunt. All of this fun happens while Adam Cole and Christian Cage have a technical as hell match in the ring until we get a ref bump via an interfering Bobby Fish who then double teams Cage with Adam Cole to allow Cole to hit a Panama Sunrise to get the pin from a waking referee. It takes a few minutes for the Bucks and Jurassic Express to get word that the match is actually over and all four are mad. So much for a Falls Count Anywhere match ending anywhere. Plus, now Cole has bragging rights of a big PPV win.

Quixotronic Bullpen Predictions:

Kyle: Christian Cage & Jurassic Express - I think Omega is going to take the big loss, and we'll see Cage and Jurassic Express act as a preview for an all-out Elite loss.

Andy: TBD

Ryan: The Elite

Tim: Christian Cage & Jurassic Express

Andrade el Idolo & Malakai Black vs Cody Rhodes & PAC

The Background: Andrade el Idolo debuted on the June 4th Dynamite, originally aligned with Vickie Guerrero and then later Chavo Guerrero Jr. Neither lasted. Andrade's first big win was against PAC on the September 10th Rampage. The two met again in the Casino Royal Ladder match to determine an AEW World title #1 contender on the October 6th Dynamite that saw mystery entrant Adam Page win his main event spot. Andrade then paid MJF for the services of FTR specifically to fuck with PAC's Death Triangle allies the Lucha Bros, helping FTR defeat them to win their AAA Tag Team titles on the October 16th Dynamite. Meanwhile, Malakai Black debuted a month after Andrade on the July 7th Dynamite and has been in a blood-feud with Cody Rhodes. Black defeated Rhodes on the August 4th Dynamite, defeated Arn Anderson's boy Brock Anderson in front of the Quixo-staff in Milwaukee on the August 25th Dynamite, Dustin Rhodes on the September 8th Dynamite, and finally Cody Rhodes a second time on the September 22nd Grand Slam Dynamite. Black/Rhodes III saw Rhodes finally defeat Black on the October 23rd Dynamite, but afterwards our streams finally crossed with Andrade attacking Rhodes after the match and aligning with Black while PAC made the save. Now the four will face off in a tag team match, playa.

Fanboy Fantasy: Rhodes & Pac perform the standard can-they-coexist dance as Cody wants to stay in the match and face both Black and Andrade the whole time - PAC only gets in when he can tag Rhodes from behind and only stays in until Rhodes does the same. This, of course, means Rhodes is going to get worn down and Arn Anderson is going to get more and more frustrated with him as the match goes on. Andrade and Malakai work like a well oiled machine. If only Queen Zelina Vega could join them, you know? Like Anderson, PAC gets more frustrated with Rhodes as well since he came in just to help and apparently that's not wanted. PAC eventually takes his frustration out on Anderson, arguing with him long enough for the referee to get in the middle of it - this gives Black and Idolo time to double-team Cody enough for a La Sambra from Andrade into a Black Mass from Black. Andrade rolls Cody up while the referee slides back in and Andrade/Black get the win. PAC slides back in after realizing they lost and stares down Rhodes while get gets up. We zoom in, they stare daggers, and Rhodes locks and hits a Cross Rhodes on PAC. Anderson finally gets in and gets in Cody's face also. They argue and... Cross Rhodes on Anderson. WHAT HAS CODY DONE. On the next couple of Dynamites, Cody Rhodes makes it clear - Arn Anderson is a hell of hand, but he was always a second-ran. The guy behind the guy, but not the guy. But he always made it work by grabbing the business by the balls and running roughshod on everyone with the Horsemen. Cody tries to do the same thing, but Anderson is a hypocrite. A liar. But also: an Anderson. And Cody is a Rhodes. Maybe they were always doomed. He may not be loved like his father was, but he will be. He will make everyone love him. Including Anderson. Including PAC. Everyone.

Quixotronic Bullpen Predictions:

Kyle: Cody Rhodes & PAC - It's Cody Rhodes.

Andy: TBD

Ryan: TBD

Tim: Andrade el Idolo & Malakai Black

AEW World Championship Eliminator Final : Bryan Danielson vs Miro

The Background: The latest AEW World Title Eliminator tournament started shortly after a new #1 contender (Adam Page) was already determined via ladder match. Either way, we need a #1 contender ready literally before the current #1 contender has his title match. In an 8-man tournament, Orange Cassidy defeated Powerhouse Hobbs on the October 22nd Rampage, Bryan Danielson defeated Dustin Rhodes and Eddie Kingston defeated Lance Archer both on the October 23rd Dynamite, and Jon Moxley defeated Preston Vance on the October 27th Dynamite to complete the first round. Danielson defeated Kingston on the October 29th Rampage and Miro subbed in for a rehab-bound Jon Moxley and defeated Orange Cassidy on the November 3rd Dynamite. The new #1 contender will be determined before the current #1 contender has his match, so we'll have two #1 contenders for roughly an hour. That's just weird to me.

Fanboy Fantasy: Miro chokes out Danielson in 17 seconds, one second quicker than Sheamus defeated him Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 28. Each entrant is longer than the match. Miro’s God has smiled on him once again and he has redeemed the American Dragon. Soon he will redeem the AEW World title, and it doesn’t matter who he has to go through next. Miro opens the next Dynamite ready to face the champion right here tonight while Bryan Danielson passes CM Punk in the hallways on Rampage and agrees that they both may have to change their strategy… perhaps, together.

Quixotronic Bullpen Predictions:

Kyle: Miro - He wasn't in the tournament, but I think they'll call the audible and give him the tournament win.

Andy: TBD

Ryan: Miro

Tim: Miro

AEW World Tag Team Titles Match : FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) vs Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr & Rey Fenix) ©

The Background: On the October 16th Dynamite, Andrade el Idolo brought in a new fresh team from Mexico to face the Lucha Bros for their AAA Tag Team titles and produced the Super Ranas. The announce team spoiled the mystery right away when CM Punk very quickly deduced that they were just FTR in disguise. Some of us still wanted to believe, but either way FTR did defeat the Lucha Bros and win the AAA Tag Team titles. They then went on and defended the titles on the November 3rd Dynamite against Aero Star and Samuray del Sol (formerly WWE's Kalisto). FTR's Dax Harwood fell to Death Triangle member PAC on the November 10th Dynamite, and now the two teams will face off again, now for AEW's tag team titles.

Fanboy Fantasy: FTR and the Lucha Bros go for twenty solid minutes. Lucha Bros hit the flippy floppy moves while FTR do their best to keep them grounded with mat-based technical brawling. Tully sneaks in every now and then and trips up the Lucha Bros and Alex Abrahantes isn't able to keep up with him. FTR is able to hit the Big Rig and win the AEW Tag Team titles for the second time (the first team to do so). In the upcoming weeks, FTR and Tully let it be known that now that Kenny Omega and the Elite seem to be done title-collecting, it's their turn. When AEW started, they thought it was going to be main evented by the best wrestling: tag team wrestling. But has it? No. But now, they are the two-time AEW Tag Team champions and the reigning AAA Tag Team champions. But you know what? There are more titles out there. It looks like the ROH Tag Team titles won't have home soon, so how about Dragon Lee and Kenny King come on over to AEW and wrestle the best damn tag team in the world? They'll give those belts a good forever-home. How about the IWGP Tag Team champions, Zack Sabre Jr & Taichi? They want the best teams in the world. But also, they want the titles that Tully Blanchard made famous. That Arn Anderson made famous. They want the NWA World Tag Team titles. Bestia 666 and Mecha Wolf, if they want to leave their precious studio set, can join them in their ring. Or even better, they'll let them have home field advantage: in the 2022 Crockett Cup!

Quixotronic Bullpen Predictions:

Kyle: FTR - guys, I really just want the Crockett Cup to come back and for FTR to win it. Please use my fantasy booking, Billy Corgan!

Andy: TBD

Ryan: Lucha Bros

Tim: Lucha Bros

AEW World Women's Title Match : Tay Conti vs Dr. Britt Baker, DMD ©

The Background: Dr. Britt Baker defeated Ruby Soho on the September 22nd Grand Slam Dynamite so her and her minions Rebel and Jamie Hayter have been riding high. Elsewhere on the card, Tay Conti and Anna Jay were fresh off a win over Penelope Ford and the Bunny on the September 29th Dynamite. Baker graced Anna Jay with a match on the October 22nd Rampage and defeated her, so it was announced that Tay Conti will face off against Baker at Full Gear. Anna Jay instead entered the AEW TBS title tournament and was defeated in the first round by Baker-ally Jamie Hayter on the November 3rd Dynamite. However, Tay Conti has momentum on her side because her, Jay, and Quixo-favorite Thunder Rosa defeated Baker, Hayter, and Rebel on the November 10th Dynamite with Conti pinning Rebel.

Fanboy Fantasy: Dr. Britt Baker, DMD, as usual comes out flanked by both Rebel and Jamie Hayter while like their match on the last Dynamite, Tay Conti is flanked by both Anna Jay and Thunder Rosa. Conti is able to hold her own, but let's be honest here: Baker is more experienced. Baker is more intense. Baker is more doctor. However, every time Baker gets Conti in a pin, Rose and Jay are able to get Conti's leg on the rope or to distract the referee. Yes, they're heel tactics but we like Anna Jay and Thunder Rosa so it's okay. Hayter and Rebel of course get yelled at by the doctor so they finally start brawling on the outside. Conti gets a close pin but unfortunately the brawl on the outside knocks into the ring allowing Baker to kick out. Baker is able to use the whole mess to her advantage and pin Conti to retain. While Anna Jay checks on Conti, Thunder Rosa attacks Baker before she can even celebrate with her belt. Rose grabs the title, smacks Baker in the face and poses with the belt. Conti and Jay appear confused while Hayter and Rebel run away. Coming soon: more Thunder Rosa vs Dr. Britt Baker, DMD, and this time it's for the title!

Quixotronic Bullpen Predictions:

Kyle: Dr. Britt Baker, DMD - Tay Conti has improved so so much since leaving NXT, but its not her time yet.

Andy: TBD

Ryan: Dr. Britt Baker, DMD

Tim: Dr. Britt Baker, DMD

AEW World Men's Title Match : Adam Page vs Kenny Omega ©

The Background: Adam Page and Kenny Omega were both members of Bullet Club in both NJPW and ROH between 2016-2018 and both appeared regularly on Being the Elite. When magically all of their contracts came up at the exact same time as of January 1, 2019, change was in the air. In Being the Elite 132 - New Year's Elite, while Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks had phone messages announcing the Double or Nothing show, it was Hangman's phone that properly announced the existence of AEW. A month later at the Double or Nothing ticket announcement, Kenny Omega formally joined AEW (his NJPW contract had a few extra weeks on it) and AEW Double or Nothing 2019 was set up: Adam Page won the opening match (the first ever Casino Battle Royal) to become the first challenger to the AEW World title while Kenny Omega lost to Chris Jericho in the main event for Jericho to become the second challenger. At AEW All Out 2019, just before Dynamite began, Chris Jericho defeated Adam Page to become the first AEW World champion (elsewhere on the card Omega lost to PAC). With AEW starting and both Elite members hitting a losing-funk, the story quickly became about how the Elite was not up to being in a national television spotlight (the Young Bucks also lost in the first round of the AEW Tag Team titles tournament, eventually won by SCU members Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky). Omega and Page commiserated together and began teaming regularly and gelled surprisingly well. After a few wins, they earned a shot at SCU's AEW Tag Team titles and defeated them to win the belts on Chris Jericho's Rock n' Wrestling Rager at Sea in January 2020. The two even successfully defended their titles the next month at AEW Revolution 2020. Omega and Page (joined by Elite members the Young Bucks and special guest star Matt Hardy) defeated Chris Jericho's Inner Circle at AEW Double or Nothing 2020 after the #quixotine set in. People cope with things differently and Page dealt with the pressure of being co-champions with someone regarded as the best wrestler in the pandemic-struck-world by drinking more and clashing with the rest of the Elite. It came to a head when Page stopped the Young Bucks from earning another title-shot against his and Omega's titles on the August 27th (2020) Dynamite and was immediately kicked out of the Elite. A week later, Omega and Page lost their AEW titles to FTR at AEW All Out 2020. Omega and Page mutually agreed to separate as a team and both, independently of each other, entered the next AEW World Title Eliminator tournament. They each made it to the final and at AEW Full Gear 2020, Omega defeated Page to win the #1 Contendership. Page retreated into himself, rebuffing the constant wooing of the Dark Order for his friendship. When he showed up for work, he usually had a drink in his hand. It wasn't great. Omega, on the other hand, went full Cleaner and not only defeated Jon Moxley to win the AEW World title at the December 2nd Winter is Coming Dynamite, but he ran off to Impact Wrestling with the title and his new manager Don Callis and began collecting titles. He already had the AAA Mega title and soon added the Impact and TNA World titles at Impact Rebellion 2021. Omega had surrounded himself with gold and his closest allies to guard all of it. By mid-year, the Dark Order had broken through to Page and he had regained his confidence enough to confront his former partner. At the July 28th Dynamite, the teams held a match that if the Dark Order won, Hangman Page would receive an AEW World title shot against Omega. The Dark Order, and Adam Page, lost. The next week the Elite beat down Page on the August 4th Dynamite, sending him to Local Medical Facility for the foreseeable future. In the mean time, Omega lost his Impact & TNA World titles to Christian Cage on the August 13th Rampage, but retained his AEW World title at AEW All Out 2021. Omega didn't need Impact's love anymore, so he was content with his AEW World title. He even defeated Bryan Danielson (more specifically didn't lose as it was a time-limit draw) on the September 22nd Grand Slam Dynamite. Everything was coming up Omega until Hangman Adam Page returned as the mystery contender in the Casino Royal Ladder match on October 6th Dynamite the to become finally and officially the #1 contender to Kenny Omega's AEW World title. Page, now confident with his place in the world, believe he can defeat Kenny Omega. At the official contract signing, he said as much. However, this is wrestling, so the contract signing ended as they typically do: in blood.

Fanboy Fantasy: In a pre-match bit early in the show, Adam Page tells the Dark Order to stay in the back, even if the Elite show up. This is his fight, and while he considers them his friends, he needs to do this on his own. Later on we get the exact same set up with Kenny Omega and the Elite, but just before Omega tells them to stay out of it, he corrects himself and says do as you feel! Page was never Elite, and they can do as they want! But don't let the referee see, wink, wink. As the main event starts, Adam Pages does come out alone and Kenny Omega indeed comes out with Don Callis, the SuperKliq of Adam Cole and Matt & Nick Jackson, and even the young boys Brandon Cutler and Michael Nakazawa. The referee tries to send them to the back but Callis produces the match contract that Omega signed for Page with his blood where it clearly states that Omega is able to be seconded by whomever he wants. With an Elite member of some kind at each side of the ring, the match seemingly becomes a lumberjack match. The bell rings and they lock up with Omega getting the advantage right away. All of the Elite start laughing while Page regroups. As the match goes on, Omega appears to be going easy on Page until Hangman finally starts making a comeback. Omega, shocked, rolls to the outside and regroups with Don Callis. While the referee focuses on the champion and starts a ten-count, the Young Bucks sneak in and Superkick Page and quickly slide out. Omega slides in and goes for the pin but Page is able to kick out. Another pin attempt and Page again kicks out. Page is able to get out from under Omega and tackle him, regaining the advantage. During another bit while Callis has the referee distracted, Adam Cole is able to hit a Panama Sunrise on Page, but again Page is able to kick out once Omega is able to go for the pin. Page, clearly frustrated with all of the interference finally takes matters into his own hands: after reversing Omega out of a One-Winged Angle into a Buckshot Lariat, Page instead suicide dives out of the ring and takes out both young boys Cutler and Nakazawa who were conveniently grouped together. The SuperKliq rush to attack but Page is able to fight all three off hitting clotheslines on each of the three. None of the Elite are able to actually connect with an attack and cause a disqualification. Don Callis hides in the ring trying to show the carnage to the referee but since Page hasn't been attacked himself, it's all legal. Omega makes the dumb decision to head to the outside also, but with all the momentum behind him, Page is able to rock Omega into the guard rails. Into the side of the ring. Back to the guard rails. Into the ring steps. Pure cowboy shit. Page tosses Omega back into the ring, but once on the ring apron he flips back to the outside to take out the Elite (thankfully in a group) once again. Slide back to the ring and Page goes for the pin but Omega had enough time to kick out at two. The two go on for a few more minutes as the Elite recover and now hang out out the ring aprons taunting Page as Omega pummels him. Adam Cole steps into the ring but is stopped by the referee allowing the Young Bucks enough time to set up a Meltzer Driver, but Frankie Kazarian shows up from the audience (wearing his Elite-Hunter shirt) and stops them. The Dark Order take the cue and run out from the back brawl with the Elite in the outside and everyone fights their way to the back, no one touching Page or Omega. Page watches his friends clear the arena while Omega appears distraught. Once everyone’s gone, Page smiles at Omega, pointing at himself and then at Omega. It’s only them now. Former tag team champions. Former friends. They launch at each other and punch punch punch each other until Page is able to close Omega into the corner. They brawl more for a few minutes until Omega whips Page to the ropes but Page comes back with a Buckshot Lariat. Page rolls Omega up for the pin 1, 2, 3! Adam Page defeats Kenny Omega and is your new AEW World Champion. On the next Dynamite, the Hangman celebrates his win in the middle of the ring with his friends the Dark Order. However, they are interrupted by the new #1 contender Miro at the entryway, but Miro is joined by the other winners of Full Gear: Scorpio Sky. Eddie Kingston. Andrade el Idolo. Malakai Black. Even Adam Cole, surprisingly with Bobby Fish and not the Elite. Adam Page has been champion for only a few days, and is presented with a new rogues gallery of contenders even if he gets through Miro, and most importantly none of them are former WWE or IWGP champions. The closest is to world titles they've seen are Andrade and Black as former NXT champions. These are all fresh contenders that AEW is betting on. But of course, were is Kenny Omega? Where is the Elite?

Quixotronic Bullpen Predictions:

Kyle: Adam Page - Do it. Pull the trigger. Hangman has the momentum of a 2+ year storyline. Do it.

Andy: TBD

Ryan: Kenny Omega

Tim: Adam Page

That's it for our AEW Full Gear 2021 preview and fantasy booking. We'll be back next week (hopefully?) with WWE Survivor Series 2021, and then in December with... WWE Day One? I guess? I'll be honest - I have kids, so we may be skipping that one. It's Christmas time. Maybe we'll do a run through NWA Hard Times 2021, because why not? Or probably-the-final ROH Final Battle 2021? But more importantly: in January it's Royal Rumble time!

In the meantime, if you haven't already, please checkout parts 1, 2, and 3 of our version of WWE : Quixo-WrestleMania 37, Quixo-Great American Bash 2021, and Quixo-SummerSlam 2021! We'll be adding a "part 4" slowly in the next couple of WWE previews, but soon we'll follow up with a new year's worth of fantasy Quxio, but this time with AEW! Will that include AEW World Champion Adam Page? We'll see! What's better than some fantasy booking? All fantasy booking.
